Each punch is matched to a scheduled shift, so Attendance can tell you more than who is in. It shows who is late and by how much, who clocked in with no shift, and whose punch came from outside the zone.

What a record can say

Every shift ends up in one of a few plain states.

On time
Clocked in within the grace period of the scheduled start. Nothing for you to do.
Late
Clocked in more than 5 minutes after the start (you set the grace period), with the minutes recorded.
Unscheduled
Clocked in with no matching shift. Accepted by default and flagged; you can switch these off.
Assumed worked
A published shift with no punch, filled in from the schedule and labelled that way. Optional.
Absent
Marked by a manager, or the result of a missing punch when assumed-worked is off.
Overtime
Worked hours over 8 in a day or 40 in a week by default. Both limits are settings.

Needs a decision

Flagged punches come to you with the reason attached.

Most days need no attention. When something does, it's in a short list with the person, the time and what's wrong, and you resolve it or dismiss it.

Location
A punch outside its GPS zone (with the distance), a signal too weak to check, or a location that looks spoofed. GPS zones are on Pro.
Left the site
While someone is clocked in, the app can tell you they've been away longer than the threshold, 15 minutes by default.
No shift
A clock-in with nothing on the schedule to match.

Corrections

Fix a record without losing what it said before.

Phones die and people forget to clock out. Managers can correct a punch time, fill in a missed clock-out, fix a lunch, mark an absence or void a record for up to 14 days. Each change keeps the original next to the new value.

Employees can start a correction themselves from the iPad kiosk. The request waits for you and changes nothing until you approve it. More on the tablet kiosk.

On the iPad kiosk, employees can review their punches and request a fix.

Timesheets

Hours in a CSV your payroll system can import.

One row per record
Employee, date, scheduled start and end, actual clock in, lunch start and end, clock out, break minutes, worked, paid and overtime hours, and a note.
Where each row came from
Kiosk, app, web or the schedule. Rows filled from the schedule leave the punch columns empty, so nothing looks punched when it wasn't.

Zchedule doesn't run payroll or connect to payroll providers. The CSV is what you hand to the system that does.

FAQ

Questions worth answering up front.

Every clock-in is matched to that person's shift for the day. A clock-in more than 5 minutes after the scheduled start is recorded as late, with the number of minutes. You can change the 5-minute grace period.

By default a published shift with no punch is recorded as assumed worked, labelled as coming from the schedule rather than a punch. You can turn that off so a missing punch counts as an absence, and you can mark an absence yourself.

Yes, within 14 days by default. Managers can correct a time, add a missed clock-out, fix a lunch, mark an absence or void a record. Every change keeps the before and after.

Yes. The payroll CSV has one row per record with scheduled and actual times, lunches, worked, paid and overtime hours, and where each row came from.
